Just when you thought the world couldn't get any stranger!

A school in a far off land, which I won't name but will say that there have been many crazy stories from here before, has decided that Easter Eggs will now be referred to as Spring Spheres.

This is political in-correctness! An egg isn't a sphere, it's egg shaped as someone once told me. Actually an egg shape is an Oblate Spheroid.

So Spring Oblate Spheroid season is apon us. We'll be at The Royal Easter Show, ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland for 5 days, Thursday - Monday.

Come along and watch me, The Egg Guy, cook up some yummy dishes.
We have eggs for the youngsters to decorate, competitions with cool prizes, an opportunity to become Auckland's fastest omelette maker, free recipes and more fun than you can shake an egg at.

I'm excited! after three days of chatting to some lovely people in Auckland.

I back myself as a bit of an egg know-all but I'm always keen to listen to new ideas and this weekend produced some crackers!

The Eggmont (microwave cooked scrambled egg inverted on a plate). That was Clare's husband's speciality

Cheryl told me that French Toast or Eggy Bread was called Gypsy Toast when she was growing up.

Ray says that at his house finely chopped onion and fresh coriander are added to the egg and milk mixture for French Toast before frying and then the finished toast is topped with a spicy chutney - Yummy!

I was told by two people to add a pinch of salt to the egg and milk and cinnamon and sugar mixture. I did - and it improved things.

Barbara from Orewa New World told me that when she was growing up her family use to make a hole in each end of an egg, blow the contents into a bowl. Then rinse the shell and tape over one of the holes. Next they filled the egg with warm, liquid jelly  and then put the eggs in the fridge to let the jelly set. They would paint patterns on the shells for Easter.

Brilliant! I'm going to try this great idea, you should too.

The hole should be big enough so that you can easily pour in the jelly and you can sit the eggs that you are filling in an egg carton whilst you do it.

You may see me out and about around Hamilton this week. Come and say hello and share you're favourite egg ideas with me.

Bye for now

The Egg Guy

We're having a ball at the North Shore events centre!

The French Toast (Eggy Bread) with cinnamon, vanilla sugar and honey is just delicious. Quick and easy and popular with everyone.

A lady called Claire shared her husband's 'Eggmont' recipe with me. So I'll try that soon and post the result here.

So we're in for some fun over the weekend, hope to see you there.

Hi, I'm The Egg Guy

My mission (and I've chosen to accept it) is to egg everyone on!

Eggs aren't new but they are fresh and so are the ideas (and some of the jokes) that you'll find here.

As I travel the country I share what little knowledge I have (that doesn't take long) with the good people of New Zealand. In return I pick up plenty of tips, tricks, recipes and some funny stories to share right here.

So that's 2011 mapped out. I hope you'll visit my blog again and hey! let's be Facebook friends. We may even meet at show, come and say hi, and you'll see me on TV with my faithful side-kick Egg Boy.
